Sandler’s Counterpreservation wins Society of Architectural Historians’ book award

At Signale Books, we are delighted to announce that Daniela Sandler’s 2016 book Counterpreservation: Architectural Decay in Berlin since 1989 is the recipient of 2019 Antoinette Forrester Downing Book Award of the Society of Architectural Historians, an annual award “for excellence in a published work devoted to historical topics in preservation.”
Counterpreservation focuses on the intentional appropriation of decay in connection to memory, public space, and gentrification. Sandler is an Assistant Professor of architectural and urban history in the School of Architecture of the University of Minnesota.
